A legendary Mill
The KRABAT village of Schwarzkollm is a truly magical place in the idyllic Upper Lusatia region. There is much to discover here, where the good Sorbian wizard KRABAT once lived and fought against his adversary and teacher, the Black Miller.
The district of the town is steeped in the KRABAT legend, whether it is the beautiful village square with the KRABAT fountain and the KRABAT stele or the lovingly designed ceramic ravens on the three- and four-sided courtyards.
In Koselbruch in Schwarzkollm, the legendary black mill has been recreated over several years. The rustic buildings have been lovingly restored by hand and furnished with original props from the movie “KRABAT.” The clattering mill also creates a special atmosphere. Homemade pancakes and what is probably Germany’s first black ice cream are served in the rustic farmhouse parlor.
Enchanting, not only because of the backdrop that welcomes you here, but also because of the ideas that are born here. Already a magnet for visitors from all over Germany. Cultural highlights included the KRABAT Festival, performances by the Sorbian National Ensemble Bautzen, German Mill Day, open-air cinema, and the Harvest Festival. These took place annually and delighted visitors from near and far. From 2024, the Krabat Festival will be replaced by the Krabat Saga, which will be organized independently.
Active tourists can explore the legendary district via hiking and cycling trails, nature trails, or bridle paths.
